Know Your Audience Workbook
Nailing your targeting is everything when it comes to Facebook Ads success. You can have the most mind-blowing product and creative, but if you aren't putting it in front of the right audience, your campaigns will inevitably fall flat. Let that sink in.
The foundation of any high-converting Facebook Ads campaign is solid audience research and laser-focused targeting. Your offer has to make your ideal customers feel like it was designed specifically for their wants, needs, and pain points. Like you understand them on a deep level. Like you're speaking directly to their greatest fears and aspirations.
Getting your audience dialed in from the start is what separates struggling advertisers from wildly profitable ones. Miss the mark here, and you'll be throwing money down the drain while your competitors clean up. But when you nail your targeting? That's when the magic happens.
Think of your audience before they used your product/service/offer. Really tap into the feelings and emotions your client is feeling and ask the following questions:
- What is their life like?
- What are they currently using to solve their problems?
- How are their current solutions working for them?
- What do they complain about?
- What keeps them up at night?
Now think of your audience after using your product/service/offer. What transformations will your audience experience after working with you?
- What is their life like?
- What are they currently using to solve their problems?
- How are their current solutions working for them?
- What do they complain about?
- What puts a smile on their face?
Walk through a day in their life. What are the best and worst parts of their day?
Now that you have a better understanding of what your audience gains from working with, ask yourself these questions:
- What subconscious beliefs does your audience have (limiting and empowering)?
- What daily experience do they have?
- What are their daily dominating thoughts?
- How do these thought patterns affect their daily lives?
- How do they feel about their ability to achieve goals (relevant to your offer)?
Your audience segments will be made up of the different groups of people who will be interested in the transformation that your product/service offers. Create 3-4 different segments based on what you've written so far. Be as specific as possible. What do they do for a living? What are their hobbies and interests? What's their biggest goal?
